With the DEQMs last year, I can see some people qualifying with less than $5K spend this past year. However most people flying on business (on a compny expense account) here seem to report anywhere from $10K-$50K, which isn't really suprising. I probably spent somewhere between $10-$15K with a mix of business and personal.

around 20k on AA metal - all to another OW account - I have LT Plat but will continue to spend my TATL and TPAC J/F with partners until AA gets a better premium product.

Interesting thread. Actually a little shocking.

I don't know for sure because I'm mostly spending company money and don't actually see the bill - also, I only occasionally see the fares booked (and sometimes when I do see the fares I don't even really notice unless its unusually cheap or really expensive) because someone else does it for me in many instances.

Best guess based on my 2012 segments and my average fares is between $45K-$55K

I'm absolutely floored by all the EXPs on here that spent under $5K. Wow. Well done. It also makes me wonder if there is an undisclosed $ level that gets people to EXP (or plat or gold) as several people I work with have been granted EXP even though they didn't hit the posted qualifications, but spend more than some other EXPs that qualified on the posted qualification terms.

Wow, that's brutal. I wonder what the most is that anyone has ever spent and not reached EXP?

Not counting when AA grants it anyway.

I'm sure if you bought full F fares on whatever AA's most profitable/highest load factor route is, you could pay a lot and not get EXP. Just as a random date, fully refundable F JFK-LAX is showing as $3139 one way. At 2475 miles, with 1.5 EQP, it would take 27 one-ways to reach EXP on EQPs. Assuming someone took 26 one ways (13 RTs, I could see someone doing basically one F RT a month JFK-LAX very easily), assuming $3139 per trip, that would be $81,614. And, in theory, that would "not" earn EXP by EQPs or EQMs or segments. That said, someone buying 13 RTs in full F JFK-LAX and spending $80k, I'm sure AA will bump them up to EXP. It would cost almost nothing other than having an extra person calling the EXP desk (since almost every other EXP benefit would be had flying full F, except for SWUs but our full F friend won't ever need SWUs, assuming full F friend didn't give them away).
