Flight credit for cxl'ed/rere-routed

Gigantic apologies in advance-I'm so brain dead, blah blah blah....
It's hard run a search for something when you can't describe it.
I was in TUL yesterday, booked to return to DFW when I (and everybody on AA) was "Kate Hanni cancelled" due to weather in DFW and potential weather in TUL. While the story has a mixed ending (to Avis or not to Avis, Southwest to Love field (my car @ DFW), land at Love at 11, SO picks me up and takes me to DFW, home at 12:30, asleep at 1, alarm at 4:30, 1st meeting at 6:30,......blah blah blah.
My question is how do I go about getting flight credit. I should know this, but if I were an engine right now, I am running on 1 out of 8.

I don't know all the specifics, but I did run into a similar situation a few weeks ago in STL after the tornado hit the airport. My STL-DFW trip was canceled. I rebooked on a Southwest bc T2 operations went back online before AA's.
After speaking with AA, they did refund the ticket bc they could not get me to the destination in the time I needed to.
I don't know if that was bc of the tornado circumstance or not though. There was no "rebook on the later flight" option bc it was a few days before AA was moving out of STL.
