it was put there by AA to measure how long it would take for someone to start a thread on FT about it.

Better than the liquid (pee, ???) filled one on LAX-LHR last night. Not to mention, no AVOD at all for the entire plane.

Maybe it's the other end of a screw that is holding something up on the other side.

See what happens if you are at that spot at exactly 3:04p on Tuesday flights...
Actually, it might be a little late on odd numbered flights due to FEBO.

My guess is that it's something that prevents access to a way to open the panel without a tool, or at least get into it- that way whoever is doing security sweeps wont have to open the panel

The picture is not clear enough.
But my guess is it is a cover for a hole. AA might installed something at that spot, but no longer need it. So they put that to cover the screw hole.

So had there been AVOD, you would have been happy to have encountered the urine? I'm struggling to see how a complaint about AVOD relates to a question about a button in the bathroom.
I'm not a big TV person, but I am addicted to that show. I was beginning to think I was the only one that struggled with all the gloryhole talk. Narrator: "Now Jack's going deeper in the gloryhole than he's ever been before." Jack Hoffman: "I'm really excited to see what we find but we're broke. It'll be a relief to get in the gloryhole today."
