Los Angeles-Reno (LAX-RNO) is back
Los Angeles-Reno will once again be served by AA starting 10 June, with year-round, thrice-daily ERJ service.

Great to see more west coast flights although it seems odd the new addition where they could have an AS code share.
Now for LAX-SLC, PHX, TUS .... pls

On a similar note, LAX-DEN goes from 2x 738 to 2x 738/2x ERD the same day.

IIRC, the new Eagle nest that was required b/c of the midfield construction is larger than the prior one -- maybe the marginal costs are low enough to risk some other routes?
That 6:15am departure is VERY early for O&D traffic, and too early for connections from anywhere else in the US. OTOH, it works pretty well for people arriving from Hawaii or Mexico at 5am.

The only downside is the longer shuttle and the cushion time needed for connecting flights

I dearly hope that isn't the case because I'd lose out on an all important EQM partner for my key travels within the West Coast
C'mon AS, AA is much better than DL! Think of the opportunities you can have by joining OW! It's much better than DL+Skyteam!!

Furthermore, rumor is that AA and AS will be announcing even more FF benefits in the third quarter of the year.
The fact remains that AA and AS, codeshare or not, are still competitors.

American remains Alaska's most important codeshare partner by far, accounting for over 40% of Alaska's codeshare revenue.

Has anyone been to RNO lately? The whole dowtown is a ghosttown with massive buildings completely vacant and many casinos closed. This flight won't last.

Then again, they know why we fly and must believe there are some good opportunities for connection revenue from Asia and Hawaii.

The one that worries me the most is that AS will be moving to T6 at LAX, which is right next to DL's T5 and further away from AA T4. More potential benefit to AS to get connecting passengers from DL.
And, slightly unrelated, but with the new TBIT terminal construction now having broken ground, AA will have four gates at TBIT (TBIT is common use, by this I mean AA will have priority over all others to reserve four gates) and TBIT will be connected to T4 by a new behind-security walkway. By late 2013, one should be able to walk from TBIT to T6 behind security. AA also has first dibs on any leases that expire in T5.
AA has its eyes set on becoming LAX's largest carrier. AA already is the largest carrier at LAX by itself, but when you look at AA+MQ and UA+UX, the latter is larger.
