Great news- I think...

I hate the SFO-DFW redeye because it's still so early PST when you deplane, if you're going all the way to the east coast. For some reason ORD sounds more appealing even though it's the same problem.

The flight is never long enough to get good sleep.

Yawn. Literally. This is the best way to wreck an entire day (the following one) at minimum.

More exciting are the addition of a later ORD departure allowing a longer day in CHI (AA 1523 leaving ORD at 2025 and arriving SFO 2300), and the "retirement" of 3 M80 from the schedule (going from 4xM80 1x763 to 4x738 1xM80 1x763).

ORD is marginally better than DFW but I much prefer BOS, JFK or MIA even though it sometimes dramatically increases the flying time. A sleeping pill right before boarding, a J seat to JFK and I can be completely functional the next day especially if I have a short-connection and then another hour Eagle flight to RDU doze on.

If I wait until the next day to fly, the next day is wrecked anyways AND I have to set and wake up to an alarm.

the flight is bad for those PLT and EXP flying internationally and changing plane one more time outside, or even in US- the departure date counts at 11:55pm, and the only they can visit is ORD FL or AC as first arrival airport on the next day after begin of travel. Bad-bad-bad. Cannot imagine flying LHR without right to use T5 lounge

Uh? Care to elaborate the logic?

The 1815 SFO departure will get you in bed downtown Chicago by 1:30 local (without delays), and unless I have a breakfast meeting I couldn't get out of, I get at least 6 hours of sleep in a comfortable bed plus napping on the SFO-ORD segment. And the day isn't wrecked (top performance).

That would be great if I could get to SFO for an 18:15 flight without cutting my work day short, or if Chicago was my final destination.

Yes, if the plane is scheduled for 11:55PM, that and another overnight (TATL) is required... how would there be a lounge issue?
The restriction on AA Elites doesn't apply if you are overseas.
It is no different than flying any a lot of other red-eye flights departing before midnight.
SFO-JFK is at 11 PM. SFO-BOS 10:45PM, SFO-MIA 11:20PM.
How is SFO-ORD any different?
