Upgrading PE -> J on NH 7

Anyone have any data points on the ease of upgrading on NH7 from PE to J on Fridays vs Saturdays in February or if I am better off on 171?
Do UA GPUs clear into the same space as using ANA Mileage Club points?
Also want to double check on terminology...if I have a ticket SF-Tokyo-Asia is that all one “sector” or is SF-TYO one and then TYO-Asia another?

GPUs are far more difficult to clear than NH upgrade points.

SFO NRT is one sector, NRT Asia is a second sector.

Thanks. To clarify...ANA points meaning transferred from Amex not their elite “upgrade points”

Elite upgrade points. Not sure about mileage upgrades. But still, as NH elites and members can waitlist for these, I would guess they get first pick.
