ANA award availability - 24-96h before departure

Anyone who could share experiences with getting award seats within 24-96h window before departure?

ANA does not allow booking/ticketing award flights with less than 96h till departure and search tool on ANA web site will not show any award availability within this timeframe.

Apparently, however, award seats can be accessed/booked within the 24-96h period if it means changing flights bought/ticketed earlier. Also, it can be checked and rebooked only by calling in....

I have an ANA award ticket bought in business (ie at J rate) with one leg in economy which I hope to change to business if availability appears.

Does ANA release any award availability so close in? I know, some is typically release app 14 days before departure, but with less than 96h?

thanks

No close in award releases (within a week of departure)
Any additional award space gets released a month to 2 weeks before departure, if the load justifies it.
typically no additional award space ever gets opened (Unless another award ticket is cancelled).
this is to “convince” last minute travelers to pay cash and not hold out for mileage redemptions.

Is this typically the case for domestic award tickets as well? I'm looking to book two O/W tickets (using UA miles) for KCZ-ITM-OIT in mid October. Only the evening flight for KCZ-ITM has award availability, but the earlier ones are showing X0, no W, S, L, K class and a few space in Q or V.

Given that it's still more than 1.5 months out, is it worth waiting for award space to open up on the earlier flights?

The 14th of October is a public holiday in Japan, if flying in connection with that weekend, I would grab what's available now.

domestic flights on Friday afternoon till Monday morning- no chance
any other time, you have a better chance. But only if there is low demand for cash tickets, of course.

My flight is on the 20th - I'll grab the tickets now given October 22th is a holiday this year.

For partner flight award, your new flight must be 96 hours or more later from time of rebooking.

Are ANA domestic legs for international awards not always economy to begin with? Even if awards in business would be available? Think the only way to upgrade is a day of travle (or 24h?) and pay app 10k yen

Yes, domestic awards are only available in Y. Day of departure airport upgrades are possible, pending availability.

FYI, as you wrote approx 10k, it depends on routes.
