I don't look at Y class as i usually find them poor in terms of redemption value, but looking at J at NH's award calendar shows triangle marks (waitlisted) for all the dates till end of Aug. however strangely enough when i tried to make a random dummy booking on some random dates, it seems that depending on dates seats are available straight away without being waitlisted, so maybe the award calendar on NH website simply isn't correct/updated.

Some partners open seats in 330 days advance only.
ANA and some partners open seats in 355 days advance.
This may cause trouble to book a multi carrier RTW awards.

If your itinerary includes partners of 330 days booking window,
some NH award space may be already taken by someone who can book 355 days advance.

Do people think it will be impossible to get 4 J seats even booking 11 months in advance?

They seem to open up 2 seats and then a third seat a week or two later. I have yet to see a time when they open up 4 seats at once. This is for both business and first class. I've been doing this search for 6+ months. The key is to book it on ANA miles before it becomes available for those on United.

In fact, I just booked a trip for 4 people, where one is in first class for that very reason. We thought about doing it on consecutive days for 2 each but figured that it'd be easier to do it this way (since two are older parents-in-law).

So yes, I'll be in F while my wife and in-laws sit behind me in J.
