I visited it about 2 weeks ago, and it looked much the same as it did the last time I was there in 2014.

That said, it does have decent tarmac views and a steady supply of Campari.

I wasn't aware that the AZ lounge was being/had been refurbished.

Do you mean the AF lounge, which was recently refurbished?

AZ JFK Lounge Refurb

This is from AZ's big October 2015 announcement:

Refurbished and new airport lounges will be completed in Rome, Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa, Naples, Catania and New York JFK within 12 months

I was in the AZ lounge at JFK last month and there is no sign of any work going on or about to commence.

I'm afraid you'll have to start taking such announcements from AZ with a nip of scepticism, especially when deadlines are mentioned That said, works are underway at FCO (Dolce Vita) & there have been changes at LIN recently, too. With regards to the other above mentioned outstations, one would hope (in an ideal world) that the refurbishment of the JFK lounge would get some sort of priority over NAP & CTA.

I was at the AZ lounge in mid January and it was pretty sad, not as bad as the KE lounge, but it cannot compete with the AF lounge. I second AlicorporateUK that it has some priority in the refurbishment roster.

No, it will not be complete.

It will not even have been started.

When does the new JFK lounge open?

I saw on Alitalia's website that a Casa Alitalia is coming to JFK. Is there any speculative date on when that will open?

I am planning on going to Rome in January 2017, potentially routing through JFK since they usually suspend the BOS-FCO route in winter. The old Alitalia lounge was pretty bad, but I'd be interested in visiting the new one.

EDIT: Saw that my post got merged into this thread. Sorry about that, searched first and didn't see this.

I'm at the JFK AZ lounge right now and it's definitely the old one. I asked the lounge dragon and she said "soon" but then said it's been "soon" for a year, so who knows...

She seemed to think it would be in the same space the current lounge is in. Given that they clearly haven't broken ground on renovations here as of today, it might be a while.

I think so. That's also a Priority Pass lounge. The new AZ lounges look nice, though - looking forward to visiting one as they materialize.
