6 September 2014 ATC Strike set
There's an air traffic controllers strike set for 4 to 6 hours during the afternoon of 6/9/14.

Update - Just Roma and domestic flights only affected. Lots of AZ cancellations before 1700.

Of course, it did screw us up so we flew into FCO yesterday instead of this afternoon as scheduled.

As far as I can tell all flights to/from Italy are affected, if not necessarily cancelled. International arrivals into CTA scheduled for between 12.30 and 16.30 are all delayed to after 16.30 (or cancelled).

I understand the strikes don't normally last too long but aren't they quite frequent?

Yeah they pop up every now and then. Not more than about three or four per year I would say.

Thank you. Hopefully they won't have one for a while once this is taken care of. We fly home from Rome in early October.
