Sitka lodging help

Next month, hubby and I will be spending 1 night in Sitka on our own after a small boat cruise in the Inside Passage. Any suggestions on where to stay that night? We would rather not rent a car if possible since our flight home is the next morning - we basically have the afternoon and night before our flight to hang out and see Sitka.

Our preference tends toward something charming and with character, and I understand that luxury is relative, so inns or B&Bs are welcome suggestions as well. Thanks.

Sitka Lodging

Stayed at Ocean View B&B a couple of summers ago and found it to be a very good choice in Sitka. Located about a 15-20 minute walk from the downtown/small boat harbor area. A Sitka transportation company runs vans to/from the airport and around Sitka by the way for about $5 and will take you to any of the accomodations in the area. Ocean View is in a quiet residential area and you can sit out in the hot tub and watch the Eagles fly by or the living room/dining area has a wonderful view of Mt. Holcomb and the Ocean. The owners are very nice and are experts on the area and love sharing information about what to do or making any arrnagements you need. We have spent 4th of July week in a small town in Alaska for each of the last five years and think that Ocean View and Sitka have been our favorite spot so far. Frommer's also recommends it as one of Alaska's Best by the way.

Whatever you do, book it now, as there aren't a bevy of lodging options. And don't forget to eat at Ludvig's!

Thanks! I had been looking at it but wasn't sure how far it was from downtown. Good to know it's walkable.
