Any ideas/help for a first timer?

Hi all!

I will most likely be going to Alaska in the begining of June. I have checked out the Alaskan Tourist Office website and gone through some of the suggested travel agencies. My trip would be around one week, do you think it will be enough to cover Anchorage and maybe a city near the Artic Circle? Also any tips to keep the budget down would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Just a warning -

I've never passed the Alaskan Arctic Circle, but everything I've heard is that it's pretty much a waste of time to go up there just to do it.

Barrow is useless and expensive, and there's not a whole lot going on.

One week would probably be great to see Denali, Anchorage and the Kenai.

See the "Three Weeks in AK" thread below. And, of course, make sure you book one dinner at the Double Muskey in Girdwood after a ride on a clear day to the top of the Alyeska ski lift to see the "seven glaciers".
