AS8 SEA-EWR diverts to PIT?
Looks like that according to alaskaair.com... The return AS 7 EWR-SEA now posted to leave 4 hours late. Anyone know if it was weather, fuel or otherwise?
On a separate note, I flew AS 7 earlier this week and was surprised that it was a 739 and not a brand new 738. Any reason for the substitution? Or is AS 7/8 not always flown in the 738?

Must've been bad if it was PIT. Usually PHL or something closer is the NYC area diversion airport of choice.
If it was PIT, presumably they knew about the diversion possibility pretty early on.

The 738 equipment is scheduled for EWR 7/8, but equipment swaps between 738 and 739 are not uncommon. AS has 3 738s and 12 739s. 738 equipment has been used on AS 11/14 (EWR) as well as 225/228 (CUN) within the past week, even though scheduled for 739.
Earlier this week SEA-ORD flight 22 diverted to STL for what I can only assume was weather/ATC. Also quite a diversion!
