It's actually the opposite with CX. A ton more is available to book than AS search engine is showing.

I never book anything that is not a saver award, so for me it does not make a difference.
The fact that they only release 1 J saver award per flight is a huge let down.

Today I have tried to search award flight NRT-TPE on one day in Feb-2025 (I have input 2 person)
For JX flights, it requies 37500 miles + $42 tax for one person
For JL flight, it requies 15000 miles + $39 tax for one person

It seems JX would release more than 1 award seat for short haul flight but likely that only 1 would be saver award

I have checked HKG-NRT one way award flight on 1 day in SEP-2024
in CX Asiamiles, there are both Y/J award seats
in BA Avios, both Y and J award seats are available
But in AS booking system, only Y award seat would be shown

Looking like some of the regional restrictions are being lifted.
Can now book SFO-SYD-CGK on Qantas for example:

For basically the old price to fly sfo-syd in F you can now add on syd-Cgk in exchange for flying the whole itin in Y.

Yep, AKL-SYD for 7.5k in Y, 10k in Y+ and 15k in J is a thing now.

Also, 10k AS miles for shorthaul Starlux Y+ is pretty good value IMO.

https://knaviation.net/starlux-a350-...conomy-review/

I know everyone is wailing and gnashing their teeth while rending garments about CX F and the beatdown on West Coast J/F pricing, etc. (quite legitimately!) but there's still value to be found.

Also.. CX isn't fixed yet (but I did find a shorthaul J seat):

Wonder if SQ J will make a reappearance now that AS pricing isn't as competitive on longhaul...

I think that’s the same pricing VS has for syd-akl. And Avios pricing is pretty similar as well. Both easier to acquire currencies with transfer bonuses so it’s never been something I wish Alaska had a competitive rate on since other partners already cover this use case.

Fair point, though BA doen't allow stopovers on Avios unless it's the OW multi-airline chart, they're baaaaaaack for intra-Asia:

Anyone know if they are still doing updates for QF? I was looking at booking a trip with QF where it was two legs mixed with one leg in business and the other leg in economy. I see on AS that both legs are available separately but I can no longer book the two legs together in mixed classes. Before when it was 20k miles I could book it mixed but now that business has updated to 15k for this route I can no longer book both together.

Why does SYD-xMEL-CNS, a distance of almost 1900 miles, price at 15K in business, but PER-MEL, a distance of just over 1600 miles, price at 50K?

Looks like Fiji award chart has been updated.

Snagged a ticket two days ago LAX-NAN for 55k. Called in tonight to add NAN-SYD, price has gone up by 20k.

On the upside (I guess), LAX-NAN-SYD is 7488 miles but still prices at the 5-7k band.

Welcome to dynamically-priced awards? The chart says "starting at", not "always at".

Because they want us to use AAdvantage instead?

The chart is now in effect for AA. I got PHX-MRY for 4500 miles.
