Funny, just yesterday, triggered by the Starbucks/Delta discussion in the other thread, I was thinking that it would have been nice if Alaska and Starbucks as “hometown buddies” had teamed up, to let me earn AS miles instead of Delta Skypesos. But that obviously doesn’t work well with AS being fairly irrelevant for large swaths of the US. And then I started looking at which other west coast coffee chains would be an option. And Peet’s coffee came to my mind. And in looking at Peet’s I learned that they own Stumptown…

I have never been a fan of Starbucks. Their coffee always tastes burnt to me. I don't think I have ever had Stumptown so it'll be good to see what it's like, especially if it's designed for "up in the air" consumption.

When I saw this in my inbox this morning, I was thinking it would be for the cold brew... maybe it will make a surprise appearance. Could be tasty with some hazelnut espresso vodka

Stumptown Coffee takes over AS
Seem Stumptown coffee is official, removing iconic Starbucks off of AS by December 1, 2023.
Stumptown Coffee
Jiburi
So, that probably means no holiday cups from Starbucks......

I like getting coffee on flights.
But I read this article and found some comment threads about how the hold tank for water on the plane (used for coffee, tea, and handwashing) can be gross. Some flight attendants seem to not recommend it. Had not thought about that. Anyone have experience or comments?
I went from excited to try new coffee to second-guessing my enjoyment of getting a cup of coffee on the plane.

I agree...I hope they are able to keep the decaf packets. Im sad to see Starbucks go cause I like really strong coffee and they seem to be consistently stronger than the rest.

Stumptown has roasting facilities in Portland and NYC. I imagine it's because Stumptown's coffee partnership program is fairly stringent. They inspect and dial in the brewing equipment and also provide training to staff.
