Partner award suggestions (for saving $12.50 fee)

We have a couple of partner awards that we need to cancel in the next several weeks, and rather than effect complete cancellations --- and lose $12.50 per person per direction --- we're looking for partner awards where we can park the fewest miles and taxes while reconsidering how we're going to use the miles later in the year. We'd ideally book November or December one-way coach awards, and wonder anyone knows of any partner routes that cost less than 12.5k AS miles per segment, and maybe costs less than USD$10 in taxes? TIA!

12.5k partner award? I’m pretty certain that doesn’t exist, except for in a good dream I had years ago…

Domestic Chile on LATAM (i.e. Santiago- SCL - Punta Arenas - PUQ) is 12.5k AS miles + USD$8.40. I was idly wondering whether there was anything even less expensive....

Wow, book ‘em, Danno! I had no idea, and it meets your criteria admirably!

The only thing I can think of that’s cheaper is AS domestic, which obviously doesn’t help you.

In general AA domestic segments are probably your best bet availability wise as long as you don't care about origin/destination, you'll always find something.

Many thanks!

At first glance I'm also finding AA awards that cost less than 12.5k AS miles...i.e. JFK - BOS is routinely available for 7.5k AS miles in November. Has anyone happened to note any that go even lower than that?

Back in the day I remember seeing 5k mileage awards for 7H flights, alas, that was under previous ownership. Now you cannot book Ravn through AS’ website. Anyone else know if my memory is correct? I had a few today watching football! 🍺🍺

The $12.50 fee is the least of any fees these days. Really not a big deal

Depends how big your family is! Also for those of us who tend to break trips up into multiple tickets, it does add up...

I had a agent tell me the 12.50 is refundable as a 75K
Any truth to that?

I just had to do this cancelling a speculative IAH-DOH-BLR Qatar award (as a Gold). First agent told me $12.50 was nonrefundable, HUCA and the agent was happy to refund that as well for me.

early this year I changed an AA award ticket (12.5k + $19.50) to an AS award (10k + $5.60) … miles were redeposited but (as expected) no refund of the fee

last week I changed the same reservation *back* to an AA award (listed as 10k + $19.50) and it processed as an even exchange
