Can I Get an Extra Meal In F? (Probably Not)

If they have extras, can they give you a second meal? I am going to plan on reserving the butternut squash risotto but id like to order the apricot chicken after if they have any left.

approximately 3 to 4 hours into the flight I asked for a cheese plate and I was told there weren’t any… We were offered cheese plates in first class as meal alternatives. As far as I am aware, no one in first class, selected a cheese plate, but I was unable to get one.

Alaska only loads the meals that have been pre-reserved in main cabin, and they load first class full 100% of the time. It's rare that there would be leftover FC meals, but definitely ask the flight attendant if there are!

We had two empty seats in first after the op up for the kids.

I didn’t see anyone order or get served a fruit and cheese plate. I still don’t understand the explanation as to why they weren’t any available 3+ hours into the flight. The FA was very nice, so I think she would’ve accommodated if available, especially on this New Year’s Eve flight… most people have either the risotto or the beef, although I know the guy in front of me, didn’t order a meal.

Leftover meals are often consumed by the FAs.

I'd also assume that if there's left over meals, the crew would also help themselves.

Aren't meals loaded for the crew or do they have to bring their own? Pilots but not FAs?

Think about how you'd feel watching the person across the aisle get served an extra meal if you were still feeling a bit hungry. I doubt they'd do it just for perception sake, I have seen them carry an extra meal back to an active duty military member in the main cabin, though.

3-4 hours into the flight it's fine to ask for a cheese plate but not reasonable to expect there would be one for you. The crew could have eaten it if it wasn't selected initially by a passenger and it's also possible that all meals were pre-ordered and cheese and fruit weren't among the items ordered in advance, in which case none would be catered. The person you mentioned that didn't order could have been an upgrade that got lucky when someone else didn't make it... The only food you should count on in First Class is that which you are scheduled to be served.

Pilots are catered with meals, not the Flight Attendants.

Back in the day, I'd check to see if there were any Northern Bites left later in the flight if I was hungry. It was quite the score when I'd get a cheeseburger (very rare).

Snack basket just gows so far...

You might score an extra cookie on a non-full flight. At least once my seat mate asked if they had any extras and the FA brought them for both of us. I think there were a few times on pandemic empty flights where they just offered extras, too.

we have noticed this.
After initial drink and meal orders taken, FA in galley prepping orders.
FA from rear come forward and takes a few fruit and cheese back with them. For passengers or themselves, not sure.

Not AS specific, but once a dozen or so years ago, I was the sole occupant on a CX F flight from AMS to HKG. I had two F flight attendants, even. They said they were fully catered, and said I could get any or all of the dishes. A great flight!

I've been served two once when I'd changed my pre-order and the system showed me as having reserved both.. The FA asked which I wanted, or if I wanted to try both, and I said sure, and she included both on the tray for me. This may have been back in the day of 8F on pmVX aircraft, which could be why there were more meals? Or maybe it was 12/16F and a few people didn't want anything.
