CX flight from TPE-SFO

CX flight from TPE-SFO
I'm looking for a flight from TPE-SFO on CX using AS. They have seats from TPE-HKG (Coach) and HKG-SFO (Partner Premium). However, when i searched on Alaska's website using a one-way flight from TPE-SFO, I would only get the option of coach for both legs.
I can force it to use multi-city to pick TPE-HKG (Coach) and HKG-SFO (partner premium). Can i do that? What different would it make? would I need to go through security again at HKG airport before boarding my SF flight?
the layover is only 1:45. would it be enough? thanks.
