Electronic Bag Tag Beta Test

I get the following error when I try to sign up "Sorry, only invited guests may join this beta test. We expect our electronic bag tags to be more widely available in early 2023."

Yup, same here.

Seems like Marketing launched this before IT was ready.

Ditto on error message.

It appears that Alaska Airlines has subcontracted their IT to the British Airways IT Department.

I was able to successfully signup within minutes of getting the email. Seems they went to 75ks/100ks so maybe the Beta is full already?

If that's the case, they need to change the error message. I tried it right after the e-mail arrived, and I don't think they could have had that many people fill it up that fast unless there was only like 10 available.

To be honest, if this is how well the electronic bag tag program is going to work, maybe it's better to let someone else lose their luggage.....

I fully intend to just check an empty box rather than my rollaboard

AS had a perfectly serviceable online self-tag system, which they have abandoned for this "thing." At the least, they should have retained that system until this new one was fully online. The self-tag system was most useful to me when returning from an international trip where my connecting AS Flight (typically SEA-BOI) was on a separate ticket. The new customs entry facility in SEA, with it's staffed AS counter, is helpful and makes the absence of the self-tag option tolerable as I can still avoid having to lug my bag through the terminals to re-check it in.

But still, what was wrong with the self-tag system? It worked fine and there was no need to buy some $75 gizmo that's likely to fall off your bag and be lost at some point.

Customer Care just texted - "Yes it is a known issue and we are being advised that a fix is being found and to try redeeming the offer later today"

Just signed up after also getting the error message earlier. Try again now if you got the same.
