How strict is Alaska for carry on?

Hi, everyone. We are flying out in several hours. I have one “carry on” that is close (about 3 inches total too large) and the other one we probably have to check.

I was including the wheels in the measurement.

The plane is a 737-900 max

Thanks.

Thanks, I think the blue one (I edited and added a photo) probably qualifies as “looking large”…. So I’m wondering if we could maybe gate check that one? We are arriving after 10 pm so I’m worried about baggage claim at SEA.

Unless you’re a late boarding group it will likely be fine.
also AS has its 20 min baggage guarantee which is nice.

Well that was weird. Lol. We couldn’t find the Alaska check in desk at msy so we are going to gate check the blue one. We are passed security now.

Just to be clear, a gate-checked bag ends up in bag claim at your final destination (assuming no super long connections).

Yup, thanks. We are here now and it’s pretty darn close to 20 mins if not over. Kid wants to hit a dispensary lol. (He is 23)
