MVP Gold 50K Level Incoming?
If you go to the new lounge membership page, it shows tiers as: MVP, Gold 50k, Gold 75k and Gold 100k. https://www.alaskaair.com/content/ai...nge/join-renew
It seems inevitable that Alaska would match other major and Oneworld airlines at the second tier, and 40k is probably too sweet of a deal when you include partner miles like they did this year.
When do you think the change is made official? End of year?

Maybe end of January when 100K benefits go into effect?
I had thought they put low enough multipliers on cheap partner fare classes to not have to change the thresholds, but maybe they've reconsidered.

Imagine it will be. I was surprised when they merged the partner/AS earnings into the same buckets that they kept the lower qualification thresholds vs the higher.. But maybe that was just a COVID measure, or AA is realizing more and more that their program can't compete with AS, and (like lounge pricing) they're pushing hard on their new alliance member to meet their lesser program where it is vs try to compete to keep their elites from jumping to AS.

I dunno, I've never had a problem as an MVPG under current qualification standards. I think FT skews a bit toward people with high partner EQMs, but 40K on AS metal is non-trivial and my guess is that's how most of us get there.

[edit] Apparently 20k/40k for AA is for 2021 and the normal levels are 25k/50k.

I think chrisl137 was going to do a detailed write up when time permits.

Sadly, I think you are correct. But it actually makes sense to align the 20/40 to 25/50 and truly match up to AA and all others. As long as they remain mileage based, it's all good.
