AS status package

Just wondering does AS still sends out welcome package to MVP? I did not get mine last year, and wondering if I need to be MVPG to get the luggage tags and physical card now.

I got to MVP Gold in 2019 by October. I did not receive any luggage tag or card from AS. Just an email.

I received luggage tags about 3 months after qualifying for 75K, nothing at MVPG. My partner didn't receive luggage tags at MVPG either. I am not sure if AS is sending out Elite cards anymore. You have a digital card in the APP.

Same here. Nothing until reaching 75k other than an e-mail.

Only 75K (and MMer) get luggage tags, unless you make your own.

Does the "hole" making device work on digital cards? Mine have never lasted a year.

Is there any practical reason for this, or is it just a bit of novelty?

I simply got them for the novelty factor, and the possible doubletake it may get from an MVPG wondering where their tags are

It does have my contact info on the back though, so I suppose it's practical.
Also, there have been 2 times when my luggage was brought to the front and not placed on the cart when disembarking a Q400. I've always wondered if they happened to see it.

Will the international lounges that give access based on AS status accept the electronic card through the app?
How about for status match to other carriers?

I did not even get an email. But I still value AS MVP higher than the Big 3 entry status.

Although my experience with this is somewhat limited, the issue hasn't been digital vs. physical card - the issue has been if they even recognize or know what AS is

I haven't been declined, but I did have to do a bit of explaining at LHR.

I also didn't get an MVPG card this year - which I guess isn't such a big deal since it saves waste & just about any airport where it's going to be needed, they'll recognize digital cards.

The digital 75K card worked at the Qantas domestic lounge in both BNE and SYD.

Anecdotally, the plastic AS Lounge card caused some confusion in SYD since it “doesn’t look like anything in [their] book” and my old gold 75K luggage tag definitely didn’t match their book.
