SEA-BWI
75K
Upgradeable Fare Class
Used GGU - purchased about two weeks prior

10/12
BWI-SEA
R fare
8/28 with no one clearing.
ouch.
purchased two weeks out

10/22
SEA-IAD
upgradable fare, but not avail.
upgraded at T-120
TH was on the same flight (also 75K), she was no. 2 for upgrade, didn't get it, but did get a bump to the SEA-PDX-DCA flight and a F seat (beat out 38 on the WL). I managed to get to DCA just when her flight landed, so winning.
No one cleared into F from the list.

10/24
BWI-SEA
R fare (thanks, I now pay attention)
purchased 2 weeks out
Cleared at T-2 (four seats for sale all day, but they clear late these days)
there were 28 all together on the WL, four of us cleared.

I only remember one time in the last year or so where I've seen an empty F seat. It was a 10pm LAX-SEA flight, and 3F was empty. Which was nice, because I was in 3D.

G75K, Tix purchased Jun 2

Oct 28 2017
SFO-SEA AS315 R -> U
SEA-JFK AS18 R -> U
Both cleared on Oct 24

Oct 28 2017
JFK-SEA AS 7 R
SEA-SFO AS304 R -> U, cleared at 5:02am

........

Really unhappy at JFK-SEA -- a "regular" Gold cleared the upgrade on Thursday without using any GGU. How the system bypassed a G75K is both maddening , shocking , and confusing

psst: what does "shena'd" mean?

I formed an acquaintance-ship with another G75K during my mileage runs last year. Coincidentally we were on the same flight.

While we were chatting awaiting the turnaround, he remarked that he met a G in SEA who told him about the upgrade. The G found us and we were chatting about how weird this is (we even saw the upgraded mobile bp) and we were trying to form possible hypothesis-es how this could have occurred.

I might consider writing this in but doubt anyone at Alaska Listens will care

a 241? Companion fare? That makes non-status companions clear with an MVP?

What fare class did the Gold purchase? Is it possible the Gold had purchased an upgrade qualifying fare (a regular MVPG upgrade qualifying fare, not a GGU fare) and had therefore been on the upgrade list before the 75K upgrade window opened?

Perhaps the gold clicked the upgrade link during OLCI? Still happens

Was it a ghost Halloween flight operating on tomorrows date? lol.

I have been to PVR three times this year and upgraded on all three. Our last flight PVR-LAX October 15th with two MVPG passengers on a Companion Certificate in L class were upgraded at T-48 hrs 53 mins. It was part of a 15.5K mini vacation/mileage run. I used 2 GGU's each to upgrade 5 segments taking advantage of the <4 hour connections. ANC-LAX-SJO used one & SJO-LAX-SEA-PVR used the other. Both hit 75K on the run.

On October 8th SEA-ANC was at F6 U0 until T-24 and dropped to F5 U0 at T-15. We were originally 6&7 on the waitlist and moved to 4&5 but F went out full and #1 on the waitlist never cleared. 737-700 without premium but happy in 17EF. It was nice to accumulate 15.5K EQM, 31K RDM and get the 50K bonus and 8 GGUs each. Doing a RTW in January completing our 7 week journey in CX J from JNB-HKG//HKG-BOS for 62.5K. How do I love Alaska Airlines? Let me count thy ways....

I have been pretty lucky with upgrades this last year including SJO-LAX on a companion certificate as MVPG & MVP. Last October I did a one day 6 segment Mileage Run as MVP to reach MVPG. I flew YLW-SEA(QX)-LAX-PDX-SFO-SEA-YLW(QX) and was upgraded to F on 3 of 4 of the Mainline flights; sat in 6 on the other.

Good luck to you all on your upgrades.
