AA O Fare question

If you're stuck with such a ticket, is it possible to fly using one's AS number for elite benefits, and then get AA account credit later? Or does it get posted to AS as a flown segment of zero miles, and that's that?

if you want AA credit you need to apply your AA number.

I think it depends on what benefits you want. You could easily enter your AS number now to select Main Cabin Extra seats, then change back to AA once those are saved. You could probably also do the same at T-24 to get priority boarding on your boarding pass.

Checked bags and upgrades would likely be much trickier.
