How are the upgrade odds on DL PDX-LAX-PDX mid-day, mid-week? These flights currently price at $124 RT on both DL and AS, but due to an AMEX credit card cashback offer, three of these would cost me $360 on AS but only $110 on DL.

SEA-MSO/BZN/BIL on DL are currently CRJ-700/900s or E170/175s that very often leave with several empty First Class seats.

MT -> SEA depart early morning
SEA -> MT depart late night (typically)

What exactly is the cash back offer you are referring to?

Targeted AMEX Sync offer that gives $100 off for spending $500 on Delta.

There's a lot of money in SNA. I can't imagine this being an easy upgrade. Probably even more difficult than ATL-LAX.

that is what i figured. DL had a decent fare MDW-ATL-SNA but AA has a $90 o/w i snagged instead. didn't feel like flying all the way down to ATL. i wish i could do AS ORD-SEA-SNA but the cost is insane.

not sure it is more difficult than ATL-LAX, but probably not easy. most DMs have to use RUC to get into F on ATL-LAX...

$250 off $1000 in my case. I had spent $650 on DL already, so ended up buying three PDX-LAX RTs on DL, for a post-cashback cost of ~$35 per RT. Figured even if I don't get any upgrades, it's a great deal.

flew YVR-LAX on the weekend... just missed out on the way down (2/2 at departure), but got my upgrade on the way back with a mostly empty business class too.

2/13 SEA-GEG on a CPdbaDL E75. Wasn't paying attention to upgrades, but a new seat assignment printed at boarding pass scan.

Mr. FB (MVP) and I (Gold 75K) were the only ones on the UG list for DL 2464 from TPA-JFK this morning, and with 6 empty seats in F, we cleared well before boarding started. F went out with one empty seat.

Well, I'm about six hours away from my first DL flight since becoming an MVP, and so far I'm 1 of 1 on the upgrade list for PDX-MSP. It's a redeye, though, so... yeah.
