Is the Adak flight reliable? Any lodging?

I booked a reward trip with NW miles to fly from NYC to Adak for Labor Day weekend 2005. Does anyone here know about reliability of the flight from ANC-ADK? I once flew AS to DUT and got stuck. I'd hate to be stranded in a Adak, where with only twice weekly flights, one of them gets canceled. Also, are there any accommodations? I scoured the web and found nothing...

Thanks for your help!!

Having lived in Adak for a year back in my life as a military spouse...I seem to remember that NOTHING was reliable about Adak except the windstorms. I haven't actually kept track of the flights since AS started service again, but I remember plenty of flights cancelling due to gale force winds. I'd start watching the flight regularly (take notes from david4455 ).

Adak really isnt set up for tourist traffic as far as I know, but the website linked may be of some assistance.

Keep us posted

Thanks for your help! I found a link to an Adak Hotel, which turned out to be out of business, but the lady gave me the number to the Aleutian Housing Authority. They were very helpful and gave me the link to this site:

Not a bad deal!!! Seems like they are starting to make Adak tourist friendly...
I asked if Adak was a "dry" community and she laughed and said definitely not!

I've got to ask, why would anyone want to go to Adak?

Only 25,000. It costs no more to fly from JFK-ADK than it does from JFK-DTW. IMHO, it's the best value you can get for this reward category, considering a paid itinerary would cost $1,800, or $1,200 from ANC alone.

For an even better value, this can be done from EWR for only 20,000 AS miles.

I wish I had 20,000 AS miles. I have 5,000 orphan AS miles, but plenty of NW/CO miles. The nice part of the NW award is free upgrades on NW metal if you are gold or Platinum.

Well then the NW award is by far a better value.
