Reward tickets sub for refundable tickets?
I've booked a coach ticket ATL-LAS between Christmas and New Years. I'm pretty sure it's fully refundable, because I'm A+ Elite and it's a B and Y fare ticket. It certainly was expensive enough to make me think it is.
Originally I'd asked about reward ticket availability, but though they had business class availability, they didn't have coach class, which is all I had credits for at the time. In the next couple of weeks I should have enough for a business class reward ticket, though.
Should I, theoretically, then be able to book the same dates as a business class reward ticket (assuming it's still available) and get my refund on the coach ticket I purchased?

Unfortunately, it seems that your coach ticket is nonrefundable, as only Business class fares are refundable.
All AirTran Airways coach tickets are non-refundable, and a $50 fee per person applies to any change made after purchase plus any applicable increase in airfare. Business class tickets (A and J fare classes only; not including promotional fares) are fully refundable and no fee applies to changes.
