Virgin Clubhouse Newark access from other terminals
Hello. Long-time reader, first time poster (I think EDIT: Apparently I made 3 previous posts - who knew!).
Anyway, I have an upcoming flight to Europe with United that includes a 6 hour layover at Newark.
From what I can gather both United flights will be using terminal C.
Wondering if there is any way to get to the Virgin Clubhouse in terminal B during my layover. Have searched the forums and been unable to find a conclusive answer.
Don't mind if involves the hassle of going landside temporarily due to the length of the layover.
thanks

Great - thanks paperwastage. Is there a way to do transfer between the B and C (and vice versa) airside? Have read about the airside shuttle, but it appears to be drop-off only at B, no pickup. Is that correct?

Hi,
How do you intend on using the Virgin Atlantic clubhouse if flying United ( is it Priority Pass?)
If so the Priority Pass website says it is open from 12-5pm with cardholders not being allowed in after this time
Regards

Yes - priority pass. Those times still give me 4 hours (out of the 6 I have to kill) in the clubhouse (prob longer, as I assume they don't kick folks out at 5pm), and the cost of a Priority Pass is about half that of one day United Club pass.

Just go to landside, take the (free) Airtrain to B and go thru security
I wouldn't pay for access. As other people mentioned above, virgin clubhouse does 'lite' mode during PP hours and only brings out the full menu during non PP hours. You can Google for reviews (typically soup, light bites). Same thing/menu for the pre-security PP lounge at B (art and lounge)
I believe virgin clubhouse have showers (art n lounge doesn't)
You could take the NJTransit bus to Newark ($2.65 each way) and walk around. Pretty decent Portuguese food. There's baggage storage at terminal C for your carryon
Or rent a car, go shopping at Ikea/jersey garden mall. There are ebuses, but dunno about frequency/reliability

Thanks everyone.
Here is the info I could find on the airside shuttle so far. Does this seem accurate, and does anyone know if I can get the bus back from terminal B to C?
From the United map you can see that the airside bus departs from terminal A2 and ends up on the right hand side of Terminal C. From digging into the official map the bus seems to depart from near gate A28 in terminal A2, and arrives near gate C73 in terminal C

I did the EWR VS Clubhouse visit in April. You will have to go through security at both Terminal B, to get to the lounge, & at Terminal C to get to your UA flight. Use the Air Train between the two. It's decently frequent and a short ride. I left 45 before my flight was to board and kind of wish I had waited longer in the lounge but that will depend on what time your second flight is, which gate and if you have PreCheck.
As mentioned before Terminal B is PreCheck lite but takes very little time anyways and the menu at VS is rather limited. It's still a calm atmosphere with some food & drink. I'd give consideration to heading to Newark for a solid meal and if upon your return you have time go to the VS lounge to relax, have a drink and maybe a shower.

EWR Terminal B Lounge Access
Does anyone have recent experience with Virgin Lounge access since it was taken over by Plaza Premium? I have access via VentureX but am leaving on United, likely out of C terminal.
1) is it correct that even if I cleared security in terminal C and took the United bus to terminal B I would be in the wrong pod in B and would need to clear security again with the gates by the Virgin lounge? I’ve read mixed things about Newark terminal B about whether the three sets of gates are connected airside within terminal B or have their own security by gate pod. Can someone clarify?
2) if it’s the case that the lounge has its own security outside of the area the United bus arrives, I am assuming the Air Train landslide is best to use after checking my bags at terminal C. Correct?
3) My flight departs at 7 pm on a Friday night. What are chances the Virgin Lounge would let me and my 2 guests in? I’d hate to traverse the airport and go through additional security only to be denied access.
Thank you!

EDIT: Well, just after leaving this post I stand corrected. It appears this lounge reopened last year, and this review was left on it. I can’t believe it’s not listed on the VS page, and I hadn’t heard about it reopening.

Virgin's Clubhouse in EWR closed early in the pandemic, permanently. I was supposed to visit it the summer of 2020 before a EWR-LHR flight, but alas, like a number of VS lounges it never opened again.
