Air Berlin takes to the skies again.....

Was sitting in OSR yesterday (for those that don't know, its a very tiny airport in the south of the Czech Republic), waiting to board one of the 2 flights a day, when out of the skies appeared a full liveried Air Berlin airbus.......alas my wistful thoughts of Playboy magazines were cruelly shattered when it landed and no pax got off.................... it just sat there for about 45 minutes and promptly took off again.

There's a painting shop at OSR. Why would it take off again though? no idea.

Maybe a charter by someone who bought the plane but didn't get around to repaint it yet?

I could be a check flight too. Former AB aircraft are being repainted in OSR at a high rate, the facility there can do two A32S in about 9 days.

Was taking of from LHR (London Heathrow) yesterday night (04/06/2018 @ 15:20) and saw an Air Berlin plane queuing to take off. Didn't get a chance to take a phote :-(.

What was an Air Berlin liveried plane doing at LHR? Any ideas?

There are still a number of planes in airberlin livery operating for eurowings. Last week in DUS i saw at least 4 planes at terminal and field positions seemingly in regular operation.

Recently spotted:
FRA - a white ex-AB aircraft with a small easyJet logo at the rear door (otherwise aircraft totally white)
APW-NAN - flew with FJ on an ex-AB aircraft - the interior totally redone and exterior repainted

Brings back memories of when Delta flew non-stop BOS-MIA in the winter of 1992. I boarded a freshly painted bird with what the airline now terms its "Classic Delta Widget" livery on the outside, and a very fresh 100% Eastern Airlines interior. Given that the color schemes of the two airlines were so different, it felt a bit like time-travel, even though Eastern was barely cold in its grave at that point in history.

saw a couple AB livery planes in Vienna on Friday - they were probably ex NIKI - they did not have the hideous cheap looking LaudaMotion logo on them but were still reading AirBerlin.

I do miss Air Berlin, they were my choice of airline between FKB and TXL, always great staff.

I only miss them as an alternative to LH/OS - I don't think they were a particularly good airline, not a particularly bad on either though. I liked the hearts - but I hated their TATL J seats; never knew how to position my feet ;-)

I've been flying D-ALPE, one of AirBerlin's A330-200, operating LA575 from BOG to SCL (wetlease operated by Wamos) today. No change to the interior, but Wamos livery.

I'm glad to see she found a new home It appears at least the captain was also ex AB
