I heard someone say that from the avod screens on airnz's 772 and 744 you could order food, is that correct? I thought this was only on the 773?

You can order food though the IFE on the 77W/763/A320s, The 772/744 system is older and doesn't support this feature, the 772 will be refitted with a new system in 2012

On the trans-Tasman flights there really isn't enough time to do the works & works deluxe meals properly and then the buy on board. I've had flights when buy on board was only available 10 minutes before descent (and then switched off). In that time they couldn't get to every row, so some pax had no ability to actually buy on board.

With the new product they are effectively doing 2 meal services and having to check who gets what must take up time.

I'm sure I'm not alone in remembering the meals we used to get between Auckland and Wellington. There was even time for seconds with the drinks.

True x 2

Will be interested to see what Virgin Blue come up with for their re-launch soon Lots of rumours it will be very similar to Air NZ in terms of products offered.

I'm assuming for the 763 it is only available for TT? and not long haul then?

I gusse so at this stage, but its the same interface as the 77W system, so nothing stopping it from being introduced in the long term.

On a works deluxe air fare to Sydney, my options are rows 2,3 and 12,13 on left hand side of aircraft, which are the good seats or pros and cons of the rows??

Few more seats have opened up on the 767 I'm on. Does row 18 have 'unlimited' leg room, and does 18A require feet out at an angle because of the emergency exit jutting out?

18A is a good seat, it should recline. But isn't to much of a problem if a day light flight. Leg room is like the old Space+. You will have a bulkhead in front of you with no cut outs. There is no slide takeing up any foot room, as these are though out window exits. The slide is store, in box under the 19A/K door on the out side.
