Extra booking revenue. Should be fairly obvious. If they're targeting people that are very close to hitting status, but not quite there, then it makes sense as a customer retention tool. Though to be fair, it's not like there's a lot of domestic competition, so...

They said the code was in there and the bonus points will show at my end after each flight (38 per leg Akl-Wlg). We will see 😊

I got the original email having gone from 40+ domestic round trips a year for multiple years to essentially none (change in job role). So I am currently a long way from getting silver (other than via the soft landing).

I was disappointed that I didn't receive this email as I actually had a bunch of domestic flights I was looking to book. I'm guessing I was not targeted since my FF status with them comes from overseas trips.

I was about 350SPs from Elite (and the same for requalifying for Gold early). With these bonus points they tempted my enough to go on a status point run, so for them it worked by grabbing more revenue from me...
