Q re RU and upgrades on these longer s2s flights

Will an RU jump you from Seat only to PE?
Or need to seat and back?

Similarly is the only way to RU to J to but PE (or double RU from seat?)

Thanks and festive greetings

On S2S routes the purchased fare type is irrelevant when you’re talking seat/seat + bag/the works, all of these are elegible to be upgraded to PE.

With regards to a J upgrade, correct, the only two methods available for mid-long haul routes is to eithe:
- Purchase PE & upgrade to J
- Purchase Y and use 2 RU’s

The only routes you can go Y-J on with a single RU are the short haul Trans Tasman ones (eg. Not including NZ-PER), and buyer beware on TT flights, the system defaults to Y-PE even when you can go Y-J so you need to manually update your selection.

If you get it wrong, which is all too easy to do (from experience), the call centre can fix this. They are aware of the problem and they have told their developers, but no change yet to the default.
