status match to MileagePlus?

status match to MileagePlus?
Hi folks, just wondering if anyone has tried to match gold status to UA. It looks like their site says no to *A status holders (https://www.united.com/web/en-US/app...omoCode=TB8230) but wondered if anyone has had success nonetheless.
