Airline identification help

Off topic I know.

But I saw a large, 4 engine plane flying into Auckland this afternoon. Flying fairly low, it was silver with a large rectangle of red on its underbelly - could have had an airline logo, but couldn't see.

Any ideas whose it could have been? Thanks.

You sure it doesn't look like this?

FYI EK434 arrived at 15:01 into AKL (from DXB/BNE), A380-800. Seems to fit best against your description.

That's it - I'm sure of it.

Very many thanks, Kamadan. The timing was spot on, too.

Three of those arrive every afternoon and leave every evening.

Maybe they don't always fly right over us - I don't know. But it did sound loud (which is why I looked up) and did seem lower than others that fly over sometimes. And the bright sunshine and clear blue sky (not much of that recently) made it really stand out.

Whatever - I'm pleased I now know what it was.

Thanks again.

I'm not sure what the current status of the "smart approach" trial (RNP) is at Auckland. Some parts of Auckland (mainly Epsom/Onehunga area) did have aircraft at a lower altitude when on a RNP approach vs a regular ILS or visual approach.

They also visually look lower as they are quite large.
