Onesmart Platinum

so I have just got my new airpoints card and i notice that the One Smart is a Mastercard Platinum. I've never seen this on my last couple of cards. any ideas? I know it makes no difference as it is just a debit. anyone else noticed this??

Ha, so it is. Have never noticed that (had my latest card a few months). Does it mean anything at all?

Even basic members are issued with Platinum so it means absolutely nothing.

Mastercard global site states Platinum (whether debit or not) have various other benefits, and these differ depending on the card issuer. I'd find it odd if all Onesmart cards are now Platinum. Can any Gold, Silver and/or Jade Airpoints members confirm their newly issued Onesmart cards are Platinum? Unfortunately the local Mastercard site simply links back to Air NZs page, which doesn't state what the actual benefits are.

Last few cards have all been Platinum. There are absolutely no benefits from it.

Just dropped back to Jade, can confirm new card says platinum on it.

My mum just joined airpoints, got the platinum card. She just wants the 50 APD promotion lol usually with air Canada for her once yr or twice trip.

My son just got his card and it doesn't say platinum, mine on the other does. It's weird as I can't find anywhere that states what benefits we may have

I don't unstandard why it's a Platinum card since it's only a debit card and offers no benefits. They don't get higher interchange due to it being a debit card.

Are the Interchange Rates not lower being a Debit Card?
