I agree that award seats esp business/ first class seats are probably the best way to use up my AP but at the moment it seems pretty impossible.

I'm moving from UK so will need all the baggage allowances I can get, and most of the airlines, even in J, are not generous with their allowances at all.
If you are only wanting a one-way award, it's possible to currently put together an Australia-Europe business award for US$1160 + taxes with AviancaTaca Lifemiles. The catch is that you have to have had a open Lifemiles account prior to the start of the month.

I've pretty much resigned myself to using my remaining Airpoints for domestic redemptions - there's still some good use there for shuttling your nice family members around the country!

It's for the whole journey if the flight number is the same. It is worded badly.

That provides for some amazingly good NZ BP redemptions NZ-Europe then. APD1705 + intra-europe *A award flight + taxes. AKL-LHR-FRA return in NZ J / LH Y for ~APD/NZD4070.

Of course award inventory may be so tightly controlled so as to make this virtually impossible to do...

That's been my experience lately. Best NZ-EU route is NZ/LH through PVG... but you get NZ 763 and LH 744 business which aren't so great.

I can't seem to find an award chart. I would like to see the cost of airpoints from AKL to NRT. Anyone know how?
