Discountinuing FFP for Climate Preservation?

Just wanted to share some article pointing out FFP as a scapegoat of climate changes acceleration...
loool.

According to the article, it Seems that AF already helped to discourage mileage runs by downgrading FB in 2018.

https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/a...ntl/index.html

« Air miles programs encourage people to take extra flights to keep up their "privileged traveler status" and should be banned, according to the report.
So-called "mileage runs" are a common way for travelers to top up their points in order to maintain access to perks such as priority boarding. »

For French speakers: « Vos miles vont-ils partir en fumée? »

Maybe they consider it as a downgrade regarding the additional « XP » to get a status / revenue based approach comparing to the previous FB reward scheme, the prime ticket price in miles,...
It is a subjective approach.

From a Top-middle Frequenty flyer point of view, the approach can be different.

Somehow I think that pricing of connecting flights being cheaper than directs is causing way more extra flights than milage runs

True, but when has silliness ever deterred fanatics of all stripes? Especially the ones who want to impose on others quick fix "solutions" to problems and issues they are not even close to understanding?
