Combine Business and Economy on a single booking from Air France website

Hello,

I was hoping to take advantage of the new Amex promo for 20,000 bonus MR points for purchases made through the AirFrance website.

How can one combine business class in one direction with economy in another direction? I am able to go between Business and Premium Economy, but not normal economy in a given booking.

Thank you!

If you search for economy, you should be able to also select business for the leg(s) you would want to upgrade?

Hmm, it offers up to PE but not Business. Seems silly, I just need one more column in the fare matrix...

Nope, unlike the likes of Lufthansa or Air Europa, this is, sadly, not possible.

even on Matrix it will try and force you to do both directions in Business, unless you put specific restrictions to force J and Y on specific legs outright.

I guess AF operates on the principle "If you'd like to pay extra, feel free to pay a lot extra" as opposed to "we'll give you every option to give us more money, in as small a chunk as you'd like"

It’s a well known “issue” with the website. You can do it through the call center though. I’ve done such mixed bookings many times with the Platinum service line, and the ‘normal’ reservation line should work as well.

Hmm, it looks like it depends on the route. For example AMS-HKG this is possible without issue:

Pretty sure on that booking W is a no brainer opposed to Y.

With AF that is the best way to pay twice the full fare: Y and J respectively.

Depending on the routes, AF still refuses to load one-way fares for half the price of round-trip ticket.

It appears that the OP wants to maximise spend anyway
