question on this strange KQ flight: NBO-LVI

okay, i'm seeing this very strange situation with 7/1 NBO-LVI KQ 782. I"m booking almost two month out. and there is only 1 Y and 4 J. For a flight that's only 2 hour ish. it is selling for 700+ in Y and 1200+ in J. I tried looking up flying blues award flight. it's still pretty costly. 30K for that 1 Y seat and 75k for a J... any tips how else i can get to victoria falls on that day? my schedule is not flexible, only staying in LVI for 1 night.. if this flight doesn't work out i will have to skip victoria falls entirely..

Most likely, a tour group ha booked most of the seats already. You can wait to see if they cancel some bookings but KQ is still selling seats for $578 or alternatively you can fly ET to VFA for $399.

Not sure I get your post.
You mean July 1st, 2018?
On EF I see nine seats in Y in all fare buckets.

Wow. This is interesting. Today they released the seats. Now I can see a lot more seats becomes available. they intentionally blocked all the seats yesterday for whatever reason..

Or a tour group changed plans and changed/cancelled their booking?

Not necessarily.

Sunday, July 1st, is exactly eight weeks from today, Sunday, May 6th.

Could be that a tour operator had an allotment which had to be confirmed no later than eight weeks prior to departure. Seats not booked by then would automatically be released, no matter what day it is.
