"Dear Sir [lastname]"
I received an English Christmas card from Flying Blue Germany (Armelle de Cordoue, Marketing Communication Manager) starting with the words "Dear Sir [lastname]". Wouldn't you think that they know what a proper salutation in English letters is?

Because Flying Blue offers you the option to receive communications in the following languages:
French, Dutch, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean.
And as Flying Blue is headquartered in France, and as its main "customer" is a French airline, and as there are many, many French nationals living in Germany - it's hardly surprising that a letter from "Flying Blue Germany" could be signed by a person that just might be French.

I checked my account settings, and the preferred language is English. This could explain it.

If I understood correctly from Flying Blue, these kind of incentives are pretty much up to the country managers: some send out cards etcetera, others do not.
