Now it is, they closed the glass doors that you had to cross to go to the lounge. Since the first lockdown, all P gates (located to the right after security) are subject to PAF control.

AF closed their "patio" lounge at LYS long ago. They then offered access to one of the LYS managed lounges which is behind passport control these days. I'm sure they will have a solution for both AF and KL eventually. Maybe at T1.

I still don't understand. Yes, the patio lounge has closed about 3 years ago. This patio lounge was replaced by another "normal" AF lounge just 50m away. Then this lounge has been closed since the beginning of the pandemic.

Ah OK ! But it's not an AF lounge.

Is it not? It does have all the AF branding and is listed as one of « our lounges » on AF.com (https://www.airfrance.fr/FR/fr/commo...on-LYS-LYS.htm )

OK OK...I was totally lost in this discussion. So, the AF lounge in T2, which is closed, is now (temporarily ?) in an international zone.

We did get sidetracked a bit.
To sum it up:
- The AF lounge in T2 is now in international zone, therefore closed.
- The contract lounge in T1 (currently closed), that was used by SU, will likely be used by AF/KL once operations are moved there.

Don't want to nitpick but when I was there in december, the P gates infront of immigration were sometimes open (meaning the glass doors were open and the gates were assigned to domestic flights) and even then the lounge was closed & no vouchers were offered. Had to settle for some good old overpriced Paul...

Also what will happen with the hop flying if AF moves to T1? Hop passengers leave from T2, AF mainline passengers from T1?

That is… surprising, thanks for sharing.
Could it mean that AF’s narrative (2020: we close the lounge for hour safety; 2021: we don’t reopen the lounge because PAF won't let us) is not 100% honest? :D

As for what happens for Hop flights that’s a good question. One could assume they would move to T1 aswell. I’ll ask what’s on the pipe on my next flight.

Looks like a Spring 2022 opening for the AF lounge at LAX presumably with La Première facilities, not sure what that entails, maybe dining and a special dedicated area? Can't wait to see what the lounge will look like. The KE lounge was hardly anything to rave on about and I haven't had the chance to try the Qantas one.

It's going to be in the satellite concourse so I think we can expect to see AF leave the main terminal once the lounge opens.

I believe this terminal extension was all planned out long ago when AF and other airlines featured A380's to LAX. We'll see how they deal with much less passengers per hour than planned. At least it will be easy to park an A350 there.

I think it was also a question of gate availability too, the remote gates on the far West of the airport were being used more and more (pre-Covid of course). That being said, less A380s will probably mean more frequencies so it will be a welcome addition. The article does mention only 2 gates are A380/747-8 compatible.

It will be sad not seeing the supers lined up at TBIT anymore, I was fortunate enough to take a farewell joyride on the AF A380 back in March 2020 right before the travel restrictions, who would have known what was ahead of us.

great news. For sure, if this is an AF lounge, there will be a reserved area for P with dining options like in JFK and IAD.
And, yes, nobody will miss the KE lounge ;).

On the 23rd of June the AFKL lounge in MUC will reopen again, all AFKL flights will also move back to Terminal 1 on that date.

Also, the new lounge is ready and scheduled to be open mid-July :tu:

Was there this morning, quite crowded actually. Finding a seat is one thing, finding a seat which doesn't have prevous pax' food leftovers is another. They seem under-staffed on the catering/clearning part of the operation.

Beware though, opening hours for the 2F2 lounge are more restricted than for the 2F1 lounge. Can't remember them, but I know they are.
