Air France upgrade

Does Air France allow for seat upgrade for small sum like Lufthansa from MIA to CDG, and how much? (Lufthansa is $500)

What do you mean by seat upgrade?

Upgrade from Economy to Business Class for a small sum? Then the answer is no, forget it.

Upgrade to a seat with extra legroom such as emergency exit seats? Yes. It is called seat+ and costs considerably less then $500,-
However, only a few years ago this was free and I used to get hold of them for nothing quite easily, especially with my almost 2 meters length.

KLM Offers this during check in, IF they have spare business class seats. Does AF not do the same thing? Perhaps it works if you check in through klm.com?

KLM states that the can offer you a special deal to upgrade to C if there is large availibility via online check-in. However I've never experienced this, although I'm sometimes the very first or within the first 5 people to check in I call it a mythe now

There have been threads here about people using it, so it does exist...but indeed, only when extra seats are available AND you are lucky enough to be randomly selected.

It is not AF policy, as opposed to KL. They prefer to keep biz seats empty so that AF staff/family/friends can be upgraded freely, or rather for a chocolate box.

I thought the upgrade was only available to specific ticket types, excluding the "ultra" cheap ones
