Prestige get 2500 bonus points
Prestige members get 2500 bonus points on their first flight in 1999 (AC Employee line)--CIC101/43. What do the rest of us get?

Exactly! Why would Elite/Super Elite not get anything, when customers who contribute less business to Air Canada get 2500 miles? It doesn't make any sense.

From comments I have heard elsewhere, there seems to be a lot of dissatisfaction in the ranks of the third tier, on both AC and CP. The oneworld alliance adds all sorts of perks for 1st and 2nd tier members, and these are on top of already generous benefits, but adds virtually nothing for the bottom level. CP has recently instituted a policy of letting lowest tier members use upgrade stickers on any fares on a standby basis. It's only a guess, but I suspect that maybe AC has been getting the same complaints from their lowest level members.
Remember, we were all lowest tier members at one time. And even these members fly enough to get at least some status, which *should* be worth something to the airlines. I think they are just addressing some shortcommings in their programs.

Actually, if we all think about it, OneWorld really has 4 levels compared to Star's 3.
Which means top tier members AC SuperElite should be getting equal benefits like CP Exec Platinum. ie being able to check in and use First Class lounges on any ticket etc.
On a STAR level, AC Elite and SuperElite have the same benefits. Which means latter members cannot even talk their way into using Lufthansa's Senator First Class or United First or Thai's Royal First Class lounges without actually flying First Class.
Something for STAR to think about?
