How many segments does an average FTer do in a year?
I am about to jump in my 80th segment since january and should be at 85 next friday and the rate should go like that until november. I was wondering how many segments does an average FT member in a year.

As of last night (31JUL), I've flown on 141 segments in 2009:
UA: 132
AC: 3 [invol re-route due to IROPS]
AY: 2
Air Asia: 2
SQ: 1
WS: 1
I travel weekly between YVR and ATL. Therefore per week I earn
I also have a few trips to Asia/Europe throughout the year as well so if I'm not heading back to YVR I will get the same number of segments.
so....it adds up.... I expect to have another 84 segments left this year landing me at about 225 segments this year.
I have been flying over 200+ segements since January 2005 when I switched to UA. Before then, when I was flying with AC it was closer to around 140 as AC has non-stops and UA requires a connection for virtually every trip I make.
Cheers

- 4 segments per week
- 4740 status miles
- 9480 redeemable miles (as a 1K you get 100% bonus miles for flying on UA metal)
- 3 car rentals a week which I credit to LH for 1500 miles (LH gives 500 miles for all locations)

what exactly is an average FTer
I haven't met one. All pretty above average to me . . . ^
I do 60-80 segments a year typically. Most of mine are transcons or long-haul overseas although in recent years I have been doing a few of the milk run YYC-YEG variety.

I'm sitting at 43 segments with about 24,000 SM. Mostly 500 mile segments. I expect to make SE this year by segments, albeit most likley with a 5-8 "segment run" towards the end of the year.
