How many segments does an average FTer do in a year?

I am about to jump in my 80th segment since january and should be at 85 next friday and the rate should go like that until november. I was wondering how many segments does an average FT member in a year.

As of last night (31JUL), I've flown on 141 segments in 2009:

UA: 132
AC: 3 [invol re-route due to IROPS]
AY: 2
Air Asia: 2
SQ: 1
WS: 1

I travel weekly between YVR and ATL. Therefore per week I earn
  • 4 segments per week
  • 4740 status miles
  • 9480 redeemable miles (as a 1K you get 100% bonus miles for flying on UA metal)
  • 3 car rentals a week which I credit to LH for 1500 miles (LH gives 500 miles for all locations)

I also have a few trips to Asia/Europe throughout the year as well so if I'm not heading back to YVR I will get the same number of segments.

so....it adds up.... I expect to have another 84 segments left this year landing me at about 225 segments this year.

I have been flying over 200+ segements since January 2005 when I switched to UA. Before then, when I was flying with AC it was closer to around 140 as AC has non-stops and UA requires a connection for virtually every trip I make.

Cheers

what exactly is an average FTer I haven't met one. All pretty above average to me . . . ^

I do 60-80 segments a year typically. Most of mine are transcons or long-haul overseas although in recent years I have been doing a few of the milk run YYC-YEG variety.

Between 10 and 25 or so (I don't know exactly).

The trick is to make lots of them > 3500 miles.

Last year I did about 60. This year I'll do quite a bit less--probably 30-40--but will still be SE next year.

Since January of this year I've done 97

28 on QX
15 on AC
53 on QK

All of the segments have been Non-Rev, so no miles or status for me!

67 so far this year, all but two of which are <500 miles. Sigh.

SE by segments is just painful (and expensive, thankfully for my employer...)

I'm feeling pretty average at the moment, so I qualify.

Previous years? Somewhere between 15 and 20 segments a year, and enough miles to be Elite.

This year: 9 so far, and I may do another 4.

I'm sitting at 43 segments with about 24,000 SM. Mostly 500 mile segments. I expect to make SE this year by segments, albeit most likley with a 5-8 "segment run" towards the end of the year.

Probably about 30 segments for me annually.

Almost all long haul, paid J. Although I've used certs twice this year because upgrade seems easier to come by these days.

Cheers,
