I would never find value in the MLL personally. I'd pick the 50% bonus miles and the SWU.

I havnt been asked to select my benefits yet

We each have access to MLL by virtue of E and SE, we get the MLL certs a spart of the package so we can give them away to friends and family.

The emails for selections start on the west coast and work their way east.

I saw the announcements on FT and then logged into AP to select my 2009 benefits. That was Wednesday.

I got my email notice today (Friday).

Thanks FT for keeping me informed. LOL.

I took the 5,000 Status Miles - all my big trips this year so far are before March 1st, so the 100% bonus won't kick in.
2 Air Canada Top Tier Special System-Wide Upgrade Certificates
Top Tier Select Privileges 2
2 Air Canada Top Tier System-Wide Upgrade Certificates
and something to do with a flight pass that I'll never use....

Between Jan and April, I know I'm flying between 39,000 and 42,000 (depending on the mileage calculator) so I didn't take the status miles. I did last year and they are why I'll be Elite this year. (I missed Elite for 2008 by 2000 miles.)

So for 2009 I picked:

4 Air Canada Top Tier System-Wide Upgrade Certificates*
2 Air Canada Top Tier Special System-Wide Upgrade Certificates
2 Air Canada Top Tier System-Wide Upgrade Certificates
4 Maple Leaf Lounge Guest Passes*
2 Air Canada Top Tier System-Wide Upgrade Certificates for Flight Pass Activities†*

My dh will only be Prestige until he gets early recognition in April, so I'll keep a few MLL passes for him in case he flies without me between the end of Feb and whenever he regains his Elite. After that, I'll give them away to my dd for her trip home at Christmas next year or to my son if he's flying without us.

We used four of the North American upgrades this year but only because we were 'treating' ourselves. In North America it isn't really worth the extra (because we don't drink and my dh doesn't eat on board) so we will go with three Tango or Tourist class seats between us in the future.

We hoarded our SSWU from 2008 and still have them. There is only one flight we can upgrade on before they expire, but with only being able to request it 4 days out, we don't expect to get the upgrade. The agent I talked to today said that J was wide open on that flight right now (36 days before departure) so I'm suddenly feeling hopeful (I was going to waitlist only because I could, not because I expected to get the upgrade.)

Since my travels may diminish I chose:
5000 Status miles
SE bonus
2 SWU
6 NA
2500 miles for Flight pass activities. Hopefully this will get me to SE again and I'll be able to pay more miles next year for my award travels!!

I reached SE in December last year, and the 100% bonus kicked in on Jan 1.

Bonus miles are for the calendar year not for the status year.
