Based on my experience (3 x in past 24 months), conecting PAX, especially international or transborder, are able to take an earlier flight without a fee.

If we had that kind of "service" on AC, I would stay at home, guaranteed. Most of my travel is discretionary and on my own piastre. I also go for the experience which is still very good on AC, most of the time. If the NW pax do not say boo, they derserve what they get. :(
