Datavalet problems
I find most times I can't connect to Datavalet in the MLL. Today it worked fine in YOW and not in YYZ. Any secret ways to do it?
Also getting lousy cell signal in the business centre. Is there a better place for the latter?
And I just read somewhere there's free local calls in the MLL while the phones say 50c. Just an out of date reference?

Thanks, I didn't realize that was for regular calls. I saw the speeddial buttons and thought it was a trick. Time to look up onesuite's local YYZ #.
[it's 647-722-9334 and 866-889-9285, for 2.5c/min and 3.5c/min respectively]

OTOH spent so much time on the phone that I didn't have time to write the emails anyway.
I did discover I could connect to the Bell Hotspot easily, and that it's affiliated with Boingo (as it YOW WiFi I think). Since I"ll likely be signing up for monthly Boingo, I may not care if MLL's free access is worth anything more than it costs.

i've been using boingo for about 2 years now and find it very handy. they're also roaming partners at canadian starbucks locations and many hotels where you would normaly have to pay an additional fee for internet access. well worth the price imo.

I believe Boingo also includes Wayport, which is the provider at McDonalds in the US (all McDonalds? most anyway). Which are easy to find and a handy place to stop and check email or do some quick surfing.

This is very interesting- does anyone know if it works at Four Seasons Hotels as they are exclusive with Wayport?

Their site says Four Seasons in Vancouver, Whistler, and Toronto. Also says the public areas. Not sure if it includes the rooms.
It's an interesting model, Boingo is $22/month (no contract, and cheaper first 3 months) and seems to include Wayport, TMobile, Bell, etc., etc. It's a fraction of the cost of (say) TMobile, though I guess the latter may be artificially inflated to offer big savings to TMobile customers.
I actually want Boingo for use in the RCC at EWR. McDonald's is a bonus. TMobile at NY Penn Station would be a bonus.
And not being at the mercy of AC's Datavalet service would be a double bonus.

You're right, at $22/mo it's good for North America. There is a Boingo Global plan for $39/month, claims no surcharge.
And their location finder sucks, but they do include a long list of Four Seasons properties in the US (again described as public areas).
