Because they tap the MLL cards on the computer monitor (as mentioned earlier I think) there seems to be a RFID chip within the card, and it's there to track usage.

For all we know it also tracks the number of times you come within close proximity to the bar so as to identify and weed-out the high-cost users. :p

Actually they're just tapping the card on the screen because they're lazy and using a touch-screen (i.e. using the card to tap the appropriate category of entrant into the lounge, but too lazy to/don't want to/etc use their fingers).

No RFID chip, I'm afraid! You really thing the IT system would be able to handle such a complex, futuristic advancement as RFID when they can't even get the booking engine right? :p

Maybe they don't want to touch the screens because they're worried that no one sanitizes the touch-screens between shifts? :D
