OT: UPS cancelled A380 from Airbus

Thats it Airbus has lost its freight customers according to the Globe and Mail today.

UPS cancelled 10 A380 and FedEx cancelled there A380 a few months ago. I guess this will put even more pressure on 777 delivery spots... Pehaps even 744-800's.

LH is the launch customer for the 744-800 and ordered 20 of them. If the US airlines ever get out of Chapter 11 Boeing will be very very busy. Lets hope AC firms up all the 777 it needs.... I assume if "Someone" buys AC 345's, AC will add two more 777 to list of its planes...
Thai Airways is also discussing selling its 345's, they are dragging the companies earnings down due to 345's poor performance. Go to the TG site on FT for more info.

Pure speculation on my part, but I wonder if there is an opportunity for a re-engined AN224 to fill the gap? While the 777 and the 748 may be the right acft for pax traffic, there is a huge difference in lift capacity between the A380 and the other examples mentioned. The AN224 on the otherhand trumps everybody.
