I discovered there is no Nexus kiosk available for connecting PAX (CAN to USA) at YYZ. This seems like a gap in the process. Anyone know who to contact to point this out?

I sent my application in mid February, Visa was billed on Feb.28..
and I just received the letter to book an appointment last wednesday.

I tried calling that number...and always get the voicemail...and they never called back..???

What should i do? just drop by the YYZ office and book an appointment in person?

Call them again. I left a voicemail and got a call back at the end of the same day.

I had left a message asking for a specific time and no one called me back either. As I wasn't sure what they were doing and I was flying out anyway, I just showed up at that time and booked an interview in person.

I asked why they didn't call back and they said they are getting hundreds of calls a day and my time probably wasn't available so they didn't call me back. Wasn't pleased with the service, but I guess they are in control.

Bottom line if you're planning a trip to the airport, you may just want to stop by and save the aggravation of the voice mail box black hole.

I swapped a couple of voicemails with them too. A very helpful guy called me at home in the evening and we set up an appointment for the next week. I thanked him very much for going to the extra effort of tracking me down at home when he discovered I wasn't in the office that evening. He said he had handled over 300 calls that day! wow.

I mailed my application in mid-Feb and got my card a few days ago at YYZ. I was very pleased at how responsive and friendly everyone was at YYZ. I was already a Canpass member. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Got my invite in the mail yesterday - only took 3 1/2 months.

Got my letter yesterday, too. That is after I sent in your application in mid-January. I am not an existing Nexus/Canpass member.

can you tell us what kind of questions were asked and what supporting materials did you take with you? Also, are you a TN visa holder? I would think this would make it a little easier?

I asked about the rental car issue 3-4 years ago. No problems either way (sample of at least 3 R/Ts), at least if the car is registered in Canada. And no, you do not have to have a car to use it across land.

Never used Nexus driving a U.S.-reg. rental car. You usually can just show the border guard your rental contract indicating you're returning the car ASAP and they'll let you by. May not want to use the Nexus lane though (I've had to drive a U.S. reg rental car from SEA once or twice but thankfully the normal lanes were pretty quiet).

What you can also do is have the non-Nexus cardholders walk to the pedestrian crossing with ALL their belongings. The drop off point is just before the scard scanning station. Only had to do this once. Took some 10-15 minutes but the normal car wait was over an hour.

The important point here is that ALL of the people in your car must be North American passport holders (i.e. Canadian and/or American; am not sure about Mexico). I did a border crossing at Peace Arch a couple of weeks ago with a friend visiting from Europe, and we were both required to exit my car (I'm a US passport holder, but live/work in YVR, and my car has Canadian plates) so that he could fill-out his I-94 entry card. The process took just 10 minutes, but was required.

Were you using the Nexus lane? If so and your friend didn't have a Nexus card, that's grounds for losing your Nexus card.

Canadian or US citizenship is not a requirement, at least according to the Nexus website. http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel/ne...g-admis-e.html

Everyone in the car having a Nexus card IS a requirement.

Citizen or permanent resident of Canada or the U.S.

Someone from another country on a work permit in Canada would not be eligible for nexus or canpass.

My interview is in 6.5 hours. I'm sitting here with a NeoCitron, feeling like crap, haven't slept in 2 days. So, do they use the same picture from my Canpass or am I doomed to have a Nexus photo that makes me look like I'm in my 3rd day of heroin withdrawal?

That means there are two of us FF's in YUL in the same boat :(. Were you by any chance on a YUL-LAX flight last week? Think that's where I picked mine up...

Chill out! I didn't have my Nexus card at that point. I just picked mine up at Pacific Hwy yesterday. I was using the normal lane when I crossed with my Italian friend. The point is, that non-North American residents are not elegible to be Nexus card holders (you need to have lived in the US and/or Canada for the past 3 continuous years.)
